Return Battle
This pickleball drill is perfect for practicing and refining your serves and returns while adding a competitive twist to your practice sessions.
How the Drill Works:
One player starts as the server for the entire first game, consisting of 10 serves.
Only the returner can score points during this game.
Scoring Rules for the Returner:
- Return lands in the Non-Volley Zone (NVZ): +1 point.
- Return lands cross-court in zone 2: +2 points.
- Return lands cross-court in zone 3: +3 points.
- Return goes into the net: -1 point.
- Server misses the serve: Returner gets +3 points.
Gameplay:
- The server’s goal is to prevent the returner from scoring points.
- Points are based solely on the serve and return—rallies are not played out.
- After ten serves, players switch roles, with the returner becoming the server and vice versa.
Winning the Drill:
The player with the highest score as the returner wins the game.
This pickleball drill enhances your serving accuracy and helps you focus on targeted and strategic returns.
